Below is an eMail to Childrens Justice Center.

Hi. I'm sorry if this is the wrong correspondence but I was directed to contact Childrens Justice Center by law enforcement. They told me there's nothing they can do and said the FBI wouldn't care either.

A friend of mine made enemies with (censored), a vigilante group set to track "pedophiles" online. During this time, I was not on speaking terms with my friend. But since I was previously associated with him, the group attacked me. Posting my full name, all my family members' full names, my previous addresses, pictures of me, my son, my vehicle, my license plate number.

The site this information was posted on is (censored), a mock site of an anti-(censored) site. The owner of both (censored) and (censored) is the one that posted the information.

Knowing the groups past, I'm in great fear for my son's life and my own. Law enforcement told me there's nothing I can do unless my life was in immediate danger. Don't I have any rights? Doesn't my son? I'm not important enough because what's going on isn't a felony, as I'm told by the police officer I spoke to.

I believe this would be a COPPA violation.

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and Rule apply to individually identifiable information about a child that is collected online, such as full name, home address, email address, telephone number or any other information that would allow someone to identify or contact the child. The Act and Rule also cover other types of information -- for example, hobbies, interests and information collected through cookies or other types of tracking mechanisms -- when they are tied to individually identifiable information.

My son's 3 years old. I assume since my information is posted, my address, telephone number, and my son's picture, that this would be a violation. I was not contacted about this information being posted, I was not asked to grant permission to put up the information.

I appreciate any help you can possibly offer.

For the time being, I would like to keep my identity hidden unless you can offer me help, other than telling me to file a civil suit because the FBI won't give me the time of day.
